World Performance Map

World Map ImageToday we are introducing a new way to view ETF performance around the world by using an interactive map.  The main link to this page is from the home page where you will see an image as seen on the left.  Just click the image to view the color-coded map.

The map is intuitive, so there is little that needs explanation, but here are a few points worth noting:

  • Returns over various periods can be compared by simply selecting from the tabs at the top of the map.
  • Funds for a particular country can be viewed with an easy click on the country’s region.
  • The map can be zoomed by utilizing your mouse wheel or by the two buttons in the top left corner of the map area.
  • Once zoomed, the map can be moved by a simple dragging motion.

  1. do you show only a portion of etf’s on your world map. I see on 400+ for north america on your site, but aren’t there more like 800+ etf’s in north armerica

    • The map focuses on equity returns for the country so it ignores fixed income, currency and the like. It also leaves out leveraged and inverse funds. The attempt is to illustrate equity returns by country.

Thanks for the question. – Hugh

  2. Hugh, I did not realize how useful this map could be. It is really helpful in looking at the list of ETFs in a country and which ETF has the best RSF and Return for a specific amount of time. I tried but could not find a way to apply my personal formulas to the country list…is that possible? It is not that big a deal…for example, I could create a new portfolio for Asis and just add the various ETFs for the countries I am interested in and then apply my formula. But I thought I would ask. Thanks

    • Thanks for the comment on the map. It doesn’t get a lot of attention, but I really find it useful to spot geographic trends.

At this point there is no way to reference countries or regions in the screener other than referencing a word or phrase in the fund name, which is weak. It’s something we’d like to address at some point.

Thanks for the feedback, nice to hear,
